1. How Should I Store My Seeds?

At Barney’s Farm, we want to help you get the best possible results from your seeds. Proper storage plays an important role in maintaining seed freshness and viability, whether you plan to germinate soon or store them for future use. Below is a guide to best practices for both short- and long-term storage, along with tips for assessing seed viability.

Short-Term Storage (Up to 6 Months): For short-term storage, the focus is on preserving freshness until you are ready to grow:

  1. Cool, Dry Environment: Store seeds in a cool, dry place such as a cupboard or drawer, away from direct sunlight.

  2. Airtight Containers: Use airtight glass jars or vacuum-sealed bags to protect seeds from air and moisture, which can reduce viability. We recommend humidity levels between 33 to 37%.

  3. Stable Temperature: Maintain a consistent temperature between 60–70°F (15–21°C) to keep seeds in optimal condition.

Long-Term Storage (6 Months and Beyond): When storing seeds for longer periods, additional care is recommended:

  1. Refrigeration: A refrigerator is ideal for long-term storage. Keep seeds in an airtight container and away from food or moisture.

  2. Freezing: Freezing can further extend seed longevity if done correctly. Use moisture-proof containers and allow seeds to thaw gradually before use. Avoid freezing seeds intended for near-term use, as repeated temperature changes may impact viability.

  3. Labeling: Clearly label containers with the strain name and storage date to track age and ensure accurate identification.

How to Check Seed Viability

  1. Appearance: Healthy seeds are typically dark brown or gray with a hard outer shell. Seeds that appear green, white, or soft may be non-viable.

  2. Float Test: Place seeds in a glass of water. Viable seeds usually sink, while non-viable seeds may float.

  3. Pressure Test: Gently apply pressure to the seed. A viable seed should feel firm and resist cracking.

Proper storage helps ensure your seeds remain fresh and viable until you are ready to grow. If you have any questions or need further guidance, the Barney’s Farm team is always happy to assist.

Happy growing.

2. How Do You Select And Pack Your Seeds?

All of our seeds are carefully graded under optimal conditions prior to packaging.

We take great care in packing each order to help prevent any deterioration during transit and storage.

3. What Can I Do If I Am Not Happy With My Products?

In Barneys Farm, our customers satisfaction is of vital importance. If you’re not happy with your products, please contact us via email. Depending on the nature of your enquiry, specific information will be requested. We will be more than happy to look into it carefully and look for a compensation.

Barney’s Farm reserves the right to refuse compensation if the necessary information is not provided. For any doubt or clarification about the information required, please contact us via email.

4. What Is The Lot Number And Why Is It Important?

The lot number is printed on the lable of the packaging. This number allows us to identify the specific production batch.

Your feedback is very valuable to us, so please retain the lot number for future reference.

5. Do Barney's Farm Offer a Germination Guarantee?

Barney’s Farm offers a germination guarantee in cases where none—or an exceptionally high percentage—of seeds fail to germinate. Please note that if only a small number of seeds do not germinate, this may be due to factors outside our control, such as individual growing techniques, environmental conditions, or grower experience.

All Barney’s Farm seeds are thoroughly tested prior to release and are not brought to market until consistently high germination rates (over 99%) have been achieved. Our website provides detailed germination guidance; factors such as temperature and humidity play a significant role in germination success.

To submit a germination claim, you will be required to provide clear photos and documentation of your germination method, including temperature and humidity conditions. Please also include any additional information available, such as the lot number printed on the blister and packaging, to help us properly assess the claim.

In order to proceed, we will also require your invoice number or proof of purchase, along with your telephone number and shipping address.

Please note: promotional or free seeds are not eligible for replacement under the germination guarantee.

6. What Happens If My Seeds Don't Germinate?

If only a small number of seeds do not germinate, this is typically due to factors outside our control, such as individual growing techniques, environmental conditions, or grower experience.

All Barney’s Farm seeds undergo strict quality control, including germination testing, prior to release and are not brought to market until consistently high germination rates (over 99%) have been achieved.
